The Allure of Grandma Dot’s

The allure of Grandma Dot’s tomato relish is spreading far and wide, not only have jars found their way over to Thailand and Hong Kong, but you can now find Grandma Dot’s at the Darriwill Farm shop in Warrnambool  (101a Liebig Street), along with our good old fashioned Lemon Curd and a selection of Hidden Secret sweet and savoury tarts. 



Supporting Wallington Primary School – Night Market Friday 24th August

This Friday we will be supporting Wallington Primary School by taking a stall at their Night Market from 7.30 pm.  This should be a good evening with 28 varied stalls, raffles and a glass of bubbly on entry!  

The school is having a whole school concert for the first time and they are hoping that the money raised will help to put on this production and also enable them to purchase some instruments for the music room. 

Moriac Makers & Growers Market – 2nd September

We will be taking our sweet and savoury tarts, vegie ready meals, relishes and Meredith Dairy cheeses and yoghurts to the Moriac Makers & Growers Market on Sunday 2 September,  a lovely market happening in the small town of Moriac, near Torquay in Victoria.  The market offers homemade food, local/organic produce, high quality art and crafts as well as amazing live music!  Come along and join in the fun on Father’s Day!

Queen of Tarts at V&R

Pop into V & R in Geelong (5 Pakington Street, Geelong West) this Saturday (11th August) between 11.00 am and 1.00 pm for a treat!  We’re doing ‘tastings’ of our fruity frangipane tarts and our flavour packed savoury tarts. 

So come along and meet our ‘Queen of Tarts’ – Christina –  and let her introduce you to our fabulous sweet and savoury tarts  –  you won’t be disappointed!

We’re also delighted to say that those of you who don’t seem to be able to get enough of the Organic Beetroot Relish, Grandma Dot’s Tomato Relish or Lemon Curd, it is now being stocked at V & R, so kill two birds with one stone and stock up!

Farmers’ Market at Osborne House in Geelong – Sunday 17th June

We have been invited to take part in the first Farmers’ Market at Osborne House, Swinburne Street, North Geelong on Sunday 17th June.  Why not pop along, we’ll have all the usual goodies, savoury and sweet tarts, rumble-de-thumps (gluten free), beetroot & zuchinni burgers (gluten free), pumpkin & chickpea burgers (gluten free), organic beetroot relish, Grandma Dot’s tomato relish, lemon curd (all gluten free) and of course Meredith Dairy marinated goat cheese, yoghurt and chevre!

Make it a great day out and visit the Antartica Exhibition, celebrating Mawson and 100 years of Australian Antartic Expeditions.

Glenlyon Food and Wine Fayre 2012

We are over the moon to once again be invited to take a stall at the Glenlyon Food and Wine Fayre to be held on Sunday 29th July.

The Glenlyon Fine Food & Wine Fayre  has developed into an exciting event with a commitment to showcasing the area’s cool climate wines along with new and established producers of fine food, the event is one of Hepburn Shires major events and is now firmly established on Victoria’s Food and Wine calendar.

As usual, the Fayre will be held at the Glenlyon Shire Hall between 10.00am and 4.00pm. Conducted by the Glenlyon Progress Association (GPA), the Fayre is set in the grounds of the historic Shire Hall in the picturesque village of Glenlyon.

We will have all our usual goodies including sweet and savoury tarts, the ever popular rumble-de-thumps, organic beetroot relish, Grandma Dot’s tomato relish, good old fashioned Lemon Curd and our new popular range of burgers!

Hidden Secret Pastry Classes

If you find making pastry a challenge, then this is the class for you.  Join us for a few hours of pastry enlightenment, when the secrets of making first class pastry are revealed.  Once you have learned to make this classic pastry, you can use it to create endless sweet and savoury dishes.

The Hidden Secret kitchen is a purpose built kitchen set in the Moorabool Valley with its beautiful views over the countryside and vineyards below, only a 20 minute drive from Geelong.  Christina, who is the pastry chef at A Hidden Secret, will show you the secrets of savoury and sweet shortcrust pastry.

Once you have learned how to make delicious pastry, both sweet and savoury, your dinner dishes will never have a soggy bottom again!

What the day involves:-

• Coffee and pastries on arrival
• Lunch
• All ingredients are provided and weighed out for you in advance
• Any food prepared can be taken home
• Classes are a combination of a talk or demo, then plenty of hands-on cooking
• We do the washing up!

Classes are available once a month from Saturday 16 June and will run from 10.00 am to 3.00 pm, with morning tea and lunch included.  The cost of the class is $150 per person and we take a maximum of six people per class to ensure that you get ample one to one tuition.
